Error 800703EE & Asus secure boot

Trying to install W10 Pro 64b on home built system and I get error 0x800703EE. The problem could be that this Asus plus gaming B450M has secure boot enabled and I cannot find how to disable so far. Bios skips the option.

Anyone that knows how to do that I'd really like to find out.

If that's not causing the error, I think this 1903 install on usb formats to NTFS, although it doesn't say so. This thumbdrive worked to install W10 on an older phenom system in March.

The error says files required for install are not available, restart the install.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Mac

    Hi Mac.

Not sure what you mean when you say your BIOS skips over the option.

Secure boot should be under the Boot menu.

Do you mean you can't enter the BIOS? It skipd over and just tries to boot?

If it is booting with Secure boot it is likely booting UEFI and to boot UEFI on a USB it must be FAT32.

Here are NavyLCDR's instructions for making a proper USB drive.

No it won't highlight the secure boot option. Shows 'secure boot state' enabled, 'platform key (PK) state' unloaded. The next option, 'OS mode' is set to Other OS but if set to Windows UEFI mode it also doesn't allow a change to secure boot.

The manual on Asus support is useless. Just has some screen shots for basic and advanced screen but nothing on settings. This thumbdrive worked before but I can download and verify again.

    Thanks.

Perhaps you can unlock secure boot option by setting up an admin password first.

On mine I just set it to other OS and loaded Windows. That said my USB was created by MCT tool and it formats the drive to FAT32.

Thanks. I'll try admin password. Not sure how I created the usb. I'll have to create again, verify and try.

    Appreciate all your help.

For future reference: In this Asus bios, under Boot "tab" the default is secure boot state = enabled. Also platform key (PK) state = unloaded. You can go into key management under either OS type. But even using an admin password, cannot find how to disable secure boot.

    I assume this error persists.

Could you please confirm that you have used the Media Creation Tool to create bootable media.

Disconnect all storage devices in PC and disconnect any external storage.

If there is nothing required on the HDD or SSD could you then boot from the media created with the MCT and execute the following. This is a Clean install.

When you get the first screen after booting

    Shift + f10
    Should get command prompt
    diskpart
    List disk
select disk 0 (ensure zero is where you want to install)
    clean
Convert gpt (if required for UEFI)
    exit
    exit

I would delete all existing partitions on boot disk and then allow Windows to set up disk.

Apologies for my tardiness. Install was created via Media Creation Tool.

I switched from usb 3.0 to a usb 2.0 port and the install worked. My partition style is Legacy bios compatible, not GPT, but I'm alright with that. The steps for disabling secure boot can be found at How to Disable or Enable Secure Boot for ASUS Motherboard but my searches initially didn't turn up anything.

Drive had been wiped. Also, it did format using NTFW of course.

    Thank you everyone.
