    System32 file errors during installation process

    System32 and more errors, to be more exact.

    Hiya.

    The problem

    I built myself my first new pc in 7 years (build described below) over the weekend. When it became time to install Windows 10 from a USB stick onto my correctly installed m.2 nvme SSD, that's when the problems started. The install went fine until the initial restart. That's when I got an error message telling me that Windows can't verify the digital signature of a file. However, most of the time I get a system32 error relating to a random file. A different file during every start up. Though I also still randomly get the digital signature error.

    Also, during every reinstall, I'm prompted to format the m.2 and convert the drive to GPT. Every time. I do this correctly every time.

    What I've already tried to troubleshoot the problem

    I've tried installing Windows on an old SATA SSD instead. Doesn't work either. And when I format the drive, it for some reason still prompts me to pick a volume I installed Windows on. When I click on one, I get another blue screen error message.

    I've also tried different USB sticks to boot the Windows install from, and tried several downloads to make sure the files weren't corrupted.

    Nothing worked so far. So given that I can't install Windows regardless of disk that I want to install on (SATA or m.2) or from (different USB sticks), my guess is that it's a bios or motherboard issue. But I cannot be sure.

    Thoughts?

    The build

    * MD Ryzen 9 3900x CPU

    * Crucial M.2 nvme 500 GB SSD (correct slot)

    * 32 GB of 3200mz, 2 channel DDR4 RAM (correct slots)

    * Seasonic 550 watts fully modular, platinum Focus+ PSU

    * Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1660 6GB OC videocard

    * Asus B450-E Gaming Motherboard (with bios updated to accept gen 3 Ryzen processors).

    It's primarily meant to function as a music production PC, but also for some less intensive video editing.

    I formatted the m.2 drive completely again. Now it refuses to install BECAUSE it's a GPT-partition. Why is it going back and forth? Sometimes it's prompting me to convert it to GPT to install. Other times, it's telling me that it can't install BECAUESE it's GPT. What's going on?

    Did a clean disk in diskpart. That fixed it. But now it's telling me that there was a sudden restart and that I have to reinstall Windows. This has been happening so often .

    Welcome to the TenForums @Chalcopterus

    Disconnect all storage devices except for m.2

    Boot into BIOS. Shut off secure boot, fast boot and disable CSM (Page 3-19 and 3-20 in manual)

    Boot and start command prompt and run diskpart again. Clean the M.2 and then issue command "convert GPT". exit diskpart and then perform the install. Let Windows handle the partitions.

    Wow thank you for your response. But now for some reason, when I wanted to try that, my PC refuses to enter bios on startup. God.

    I'm at the point where neither Del nor F2 enter BIOS. And F8 doesn't start the boot menu.

    It just goes straight to the boot drive. Except it gives me the error message that my PC was suddenly restarted and that the installation of Windows cannot continue. I am forced to restart Windows to start the installation, but when I do, I cannot enter BIOS. So I am stuck in a continuous loop.

    Ok so I fixed my inability to enter bios. My m.2 showed up. As did my old DVD drive. I followed all the steps you outlined. But when I installed Windows I got another error message.

    When I went into bios after the error message, I noticed that my bios does not list either my m.2 of DVD drive. What it does show are USB stick with the Windows install on it, but also Windows Boot Manager (P256: CT500P1SSD8). Is this what my m.2 has been renamed?

    One way to get into BIOS is remove battery, carefully. It should then ask for date time confirmation.

    So have you been able to install windows?

    Fortunately I figured how to to force BIOS myself, but when I followed the steps you outlined, this happened:

    The error was non descript. Just saying that there was a problem with the computer and that it had to restart.

    Since this is a new build please go over entire build, powered off, and check connections. As well check any MB switches that may have been knocked into incorrect position. Reseat memory.

    Once you've done could you please check memory using this.
