I'm Ready to Give Up Trying to Install

I've been trying for 3 days now to do a fresh install of Windows 10 after using linux for a while. I've downloaded the x64 iso 4 times to try and make sure I don't have a corrupted image. I've tried burning the windows image to both Unetbootin and WoeUsb. I've tried with 2 separate USB sticks. Every time I try the installation it stops with the error ox8007000D (cannot find the sources/install.wim file). I know there has to be a solution somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. Has anyone overcome this roadblock? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm getting the iso files from the official site. I can't use the windows media creation tool because I'm on Linux. The one thing I haven't tried yet is formatting the target laptop as mbr/dos (unless GPT would be better) and then making one big partition on the SSD. It originally had Windows 10 on it then Linux. So it still should have an indication of that in the bios.

The only official site is MS.

Why? I'm just asking. Is it blocking it some how.

Its allways better to wipe the drive and leve it with no paritions and lt windows create it and only have one drive in when you install. Uefi gpt disk is best.

The main problem is not creating the iso file correctly on the usb cant you download on a windows pc and let MS create the usb maybe a friends pc

The OP only has Linux so cannot run the MCT. If you visit the official site it detects you have a non-windows system and offers a direct download of the ISO instead. See Option Three for more details...

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

The problem with Linux lies with the MCT, it's an .exe file and won't install on Linux. If the .iso file can be obtained Linux should be able to burn the DVD.

Try this link from Linux, it's working for me on Linux Mint 19.2:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...d/windows10ISO

EDIT: At 5GB the DVD and drive will need to be a DVD+R/DL, DL is for Dual Layer which allows burning more than about 4.2GB of the standard DVDs.

If at all possible I usually boot a Linux LiveDVD and run GPARTED to delete all partitions then let Windows create as needed. There's also the GPARTED LiveCD that can do the same thing.

Make sure your USB flash drive is plugged into a black USB 2.0 port, preferably in the back of the computer straight off the motherboardand not a blue USB 3.0 port.
