    The attachment did not open.

Please uninstall superantispyware per step #2.

Also uninstall Ccleaner: CCleaner.com - Uninstalling programs

Run V2 after the above steps.

Find 2 flash drives that you can format (> or = 8 GB).

    Create a bootable Windows 10 iso 1909:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
    Download Windows 10 ISO File
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

Create a bootable Windows 10 iso that matches the current version: 17134

    http://windowsiso.net
Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

This test may require significant time so run overnight.
Depending upon the drive problems found it could run significantly longer.

Insert a Windows 10 iso into any USB port.
Power on the computer and boot to the iso clicking the applicable F key.
If there is no applicable F key then temporarily modify the BIOS boot order so that the external HD is on top.

Select language, time, currency, keyboard or click next
Look in the left lower corner and click on "repair your computer". (make sure you do not click on install as this is the method to perform a clean install)
    Click troubleshoot
    Click command prompt > Administrator: X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe > X:\Sources>

    Type: bcdedit | find "osdevice"
View the partition drive letter in the results

    Type: chkdsk /r /v W:
(replace the drive letter W: with the drive letter displayed in the prior result)

    It typically displays ETA.

thanks for the reply Zbook. if it's going to take "significant time" then i'm going to have to abort for the minute; i've been having electricity supply issues and the supplier are going to be arriving at some random time to dig the street up and replace something, so i'll wait until all that's been done.
