    Windows 10 Installation Error 0x800f0831

I created a Windows 10 ISO and attempted to do a clean install. I got an error message, installation not completed, returned to earlier settings. In the System app, under Upgrades, under update history, got the Error message, 0x800f0831. Any ideas?

Hi jekemi2013. Welcome to the TenForums @jekemi2013

The fact that it is returning to an old Windows indicates it is not a clean install.

Please follow this tutorial. It is recommended that only the boot drive be connected and I would delete all existing partitions as outlined in tutorial.

    Clean Install Windows 10

If you delete all partitions and one of these is your data partition ensure it is backed up.

Before doing this it might be an idea to image your system with a tool like Macrium. Test boot media for any tool you choose.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Just to confirm, you wanted a clean install. Nothing on boot disk but new Windows. You also mention under upgrades you see error message which sounds like you might actually be doing an inplace repair / upgrade.
