Can't do update because of storage. Windows 10, version 1903 (4)

My system take up 12.1 gb out of my 19.1 gb, and I need 8 gb to do the update. I can't delete anything from the system's folder.

You can get round this by connecting a USB memory stick or other external storage device - see Free up space for Windows 10 updates - Windows Help

Hi! So you do only have a 32GB eMMC drive. I would open a Command Prompt (Admin) and run the following three commands to try to free up space:

    dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
    compact /compactos:always
    cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

The first command will clean up the Windows system, getting rid of all already applied update files.
The second command will compact the operating system files, if not already in the compact state. On a 32GB drive, the OS should be in the compact state.
The third command will open a disk cleanup window. I always select every option except for "Downloads". Do not confuse "Downloads" with "Downloaded Program Files." You do want to delete "Downloaded Program Files."

Just a note of clarification -- the /sageset and /sagerun switches are run as two separate steps with the cmd executable; as your command is written, it generates an error message that the ampersand "is not allowed...[t]he & operator is reserved for future use; wrap an ampersand in double quotation marks to pass it as part of a string." I ran it in two separate steps and that seems to have worked okay. My 32Gb eMMC tablet running 1809 went from having about 1.7 Gb of free space on the C: drive to about 5.9 Gb -- still not enough to install the 1903 update, though.

The command is all one line, like this:

    Code:
    cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535
Just like expressed in option 2 of the tutorial:

Open and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10

    What is in downloads?
Why not remove some apps and games then reinstall?
