SSD disk space required for Win 10 OS with programs installed

My SSD is 256GB with 2 partitions. One for the OS (50GB) the other for data (188GB).

My OS installation with programs installed takes up 30GB (w/recycle bin, 4GB page, no hibernate).

Is this sufficient or do I need to expand the OS partition?

    Thanks!

50Gb seems a bit small as you need to allow for Windows.old to be created when upgrading or performing an in-place upgrade repair install. (1909 will not be a conventional feature upgrade apparently). So consider allowing Windows.old = size of Windows + working space thereafter.

If you install further programs, that will take more space. Also note that programs use folder space on C: - many even create folders in your personal library folders.

Then some add logs and dmp files- which can be quite large...

    Thank you for your reply......

That depends on your usage. It's an open question as you can anticipate. I can't guess how you will use your PC. You might choose to install some game that needs 50Gb... I can only comment on the need to keep space available.

I have indicated the need to reserve space- and indeed from 1903 see

My last windows.old & update file debris was 9GB.

I use 80GB partitions for my OS drives so they also have room for defragging.

I would change it to at least 80GB

FWIW: I have a WIn10 tablet. It has a 32Gbytes for the C Drive and an additional 64 Gbytes which acts as the D Drive. During the update to 1903 a message popped up saying more space was needed and I could either use some of the D Drive or connect a usb hard drive/mem stick. I chose to use the D drive. The update was successful and the stuff it put onto the D drive during the process was removed.
