Thanks, now she has 2 sources for basically the same thing. That should cover it.
Not necessarily, TC. I've already done Post #7 and no joy.

I'm seriously thinking of calling her and asking if I can take it down to the bare metal and start over. I just checked and the computer's on 1607 14393.2068!

She actually doesn't have anything on the computer except Microsoft Office and that's not even activated yet. Still needs to be set up.

I could put on 1909 18363.418 and it would be awhile before she needed to do much more to it.

Actually, I've already done that and there's so little on the machine that it freed up less than 1 GB. So, that's not an option.

I'm also thinking of trying El Pusher's suggestion in Post #17, but it's a bit scary, to say the least.

It also tells you how to use an SD card to increase storage during an upgrade, which you haven't done but asked about.

It tells me to go to Start>Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Fix Issues

There's no "Fix Issues" on the Lenovo nor on my own desktop machine. So, that kinda stops me in my tracks.

Instead of Fix issues, try Troubleshoot.

I believe that only appears when you try to update and it's initially discovered that you have insufficient space (on C:).

Nothing saying troubleshoot either, Truker. I've examined every link there and nothing. Sigh ...

That is correct. I posted that, but I don't think she's tried yet. It doesn't know it needs space until it discovers it needs space.

Oh! It's saying, "Preparing to install updates" 5%! Maybe it's using the micro SD without telling me?

I think I'm gonna walk away and come back later ... the suspense will kill me otherwise!
