Activation problem after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10

What cured it was I went to adapter/driver website (INTEL) and looked for driver update listed for specific adapter name. They had a generalized driver that covered one listed for adapter in this system. Downloaded/installed icon on taskbar turned to one indicating internet connection while it was installing. Went to settings/activation to do activation, but it had already done it before I even got to it!

Note of interest when I ask win 10 to check for update of driver it say driver was newest, best or correct (IDRC) which, but it lied there was a better one. So when in question, don’t trust what Win 10 tells you, go to manufacture site and look around.

A lot is in the timing of when the newer drivers have been uploaded to Windows update and made available to the users.

It seems almost obvious now that the driver was the weak link

After you reported the components were working (it even processed the Genuine Ticket offline), I looked around here and saw that quite a few had reported success on driver re-installation, so that would have been my go-to as well.

So it seems when upgrading from older versions, particularly Win 7, make sure you manually update the drivers as it appears Win 10 doesn't automatically update the old.
