Activation problem after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10

Rebooted, still same windows can't find internet. Attached copy of lower part of command prompt so you could see.

Defiantly seems to be Win 10 problem, I even tried a wired Ethernet connection and ended with same results . If I can't figure this out I might have to restore back to Win 7.

Ran sfc /scannow , reported “Windows Resource Protection did not find any Integrity violations”
No problem there.

How is the date and time in the Taskbar. Sometimes if that is messed up strange activation problems occur.

What anti-virus are you using. If it's anything other than Windows Defender, uninstall it for now.

Go to Windows Update and Check for Windows Updates.

Yep, when I suggested keep trying, that was the command I should have stated.

In trying to replicate this issue I turned off Wi-Fi completely and

1. Ran the above command - it reported Activated even though the system was without Internet - assume it didn't need to go to MS so...

2. Entered a Win 8 key in the change product key dialog - it reported Activated

Got a new Digital Licence in the process (below the underlined is the old and bold the new)

So I will have to try to replicate on a de-activated system next.

OK I did the test

From OEM (bios) activated Win 7 Pro VM (to emulate a notebook) - I de-activated it by uninstalling the product key

• Turned off networking
• Upgraded to Win 10 Pro ( it asked for a key and wouldn't accept the generic Win 10 retail key - it did accept a Win 10 MAK)

Once installed

• Ran slmgr /ato and got this - as expected

Then went to Change Product key and entered the generic and got this:



So it activated locally providing DL but with this in the diag report

So we are in grace/notication period but activated

Then with WAN established it deactivated


I had to change product key again to a Win 7 OEM COA key and it then activated with a generic Win 10 OEM digital licence




Conclusion... network access is the root cause of the error (as it says on the tin) so that's what has to be established...

I have had that doesn't have a valid IP thing before - it's a bitch to fix even with multiple reboots

Have you tried resetting the network? Troubledhooter merely resets the adapter.
