Activation problem after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10

When I check activation it shows "Unable to reach Windows activation servers".
I have wireless connection thru router, in fact I logged into this forum and entered this post on laptop with the problem (#1 system info in profile).

Edit: No errors are shown just the message.

    Any ideas?

    This may give some clues:

Fix: Unable to reach Windows activation servers Windows 10 - Appuals.com

    Hopefully this doesn't apply...(!)
PC was previously upgraded to Windows 10 from a pirated version of Windows 7, 8.1

Was 7 genuine as often pirate copies have settings in the host file to block activation servers

Just keep trying - it's most likely network (or lack of - as in firewall block etc) related
( not sure what the IP address is - we need to find out so it can be pinged/traced)

That was an XP hack...Win 7 used different methods. (or rather, different methods were used on Win 7, I should say)

Appreciate advice from all, sorry for taking so long to reply back cause of normal life demands (mow grass & etc.). Also trying some suggestions and researching error code 0x800704CF that got after trying few more times.

dalchina : will start following your FIX link next, been trying things to correct error code I listed but no luck there. It was upgrade from Win 7 genuine as indicated for years in system info on win 7 and came installed on unit from Dell . Which also answers Samuri’s post.

Superfly : turned off defender firewall (no help) even though router was listed to allow it through.

More info: Since error code showed up, when I click on Troubleshoot below error code I get following:
    Windows Activation
We can’t activate your copy of Windows. Make sure you’re connected to the internet and try again.

Win 10 thinks there’s not an internet connection, when I call up help I get message “It looks like you’re not connected to internet” “Let’s fix that” but when I run troubleshooter and allow it to apply fixes nothing changes. At other times when working with Windows internal apps, it will if needed open browser and connect to MS sites for help services.
