I am also considering to unplug the SSD from my main machine having trouble here and plug it on another Windows PC to see if I can access the Windows libraries folders, if that makes sense? (might be redundant with what Kihy boot rescue is about)
Hi, using a boot disk will make it easy to access anything on that disk without permission issues. Attaching a bootable disk to another Windows installation could make things more difficult.

Further, as @zbook said, Kyhi's disk has Macrium Reflect on it. Whilst that's disk imaging software, what you're interested in is a useful utility it provides which may help - Fix boot.

    ok clear

    thanks

    - - - Updated - - -

i feel I am being a pain but my headache continues

downloaded the ISO from here https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/322-winpese-x64-14393

it is supposed to be 1.2Gb but it stopped at 500Mb like its completed

said to myself, Ok lets try to make it a bootable media, using Rufus like I have been using with standard Windows 10 iso and I am getting an "error to extract ISO" from almost the beginning of the process

I am going to fix my machine one way or the other in the End for sure but frustration is growing to achieve that

Downloading from there can be tricky, which is one reason Kyhi withdrew that from the forum, and the current thread - top of the Software and Apps section is for people to create their own disk, not download a readymade one. (There are others around too e.g. Hiren's).

The trick is to get a program called Free Download Manager and use that- it handles interrupted downloads.

Or you might try this link:

that you so much, the link you provided me allowed me to run the rescue disk and I have been starting a Windows live session accordingly.

What I have noticed is that my SSD drive partitions look exactly the same than when I use DISKS in Ubuntu, read the partition where Windows is installed has reduced dramatically in size after I ran a CHDSK cmd on this drive a couple of weeks ago

the WINDOWS folder is almost empty and most of the 10gb partition data size I see on this section of my SSD drive is a FOUND000 folder

What I have run so far is Macrium Reflect "Windows boot fix" feature
it returns a red check at the "removing old BCD store", looks like its creating new BCD and a pop in message "restart your computer" appears, if I click Yes nothing happens, it stays on the Live session desktop
Even if I try to restart my PC, still no Windows OS boot at all

I am trying to look into some Macrium reflect tutorial to see if I am doing things wrong but it doesn't seem so.

I can see there is Minitool Power data recovery in the disk utility so I will have a look into that if the last resort options is to back up this FOUND000 folder, which I assume stored my Libraries folder and files, and reinstall Windows then

what a pity if I had to go there.

Given the loss of files etc, I suggest you try a basic check as I said a long time back.

Now you have Kyhi's disk, use HD Tune (Health and Error Scan tabs) to check the disk.

    Do you have backups?

i had checked my SSD for errors in Ubuntu and with CHKDSK with no bad sectors reported or anything suspicious

    HDTune providing same positive results

Great. Are all the Windows-related data partitions you may have created present?
After that, as you've noted, for anything not backed up your only chance seems to be data recovery software. Ideally one or other of the tools on Kyhi's disk may help.

I suppose if the files are not apparently present you may need to rebuild the MFT.

yes all windows partitions are there.

I have just made a copy of these partitions to an external drive and I wanted to uncheck the content of Found000 folders to recover my files. but trying to install utility like uncheck is not allowed on the windows live boot disk because not enough space.

also your suggestion to rebuild MFT seems in the case CHKDSK shows errors and abort because of corrupted content on the drive, which in my case it doesnt

i am stuck on recovering my OS so because I could copy the partitions on an HDD, I am now thinking to recover the data content on my other PC and call it a day for this faulty Windows install and reinstall

unless you can bring me another hope and suggestion

If no data recovery is possible and you've tried a couple of tools including their typical 'deep scan' option, you'll need to wipe the disk and clean install.

To help you recover from disaster in the future, make it a early priority to create a base disk image written to external storage using e.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid) and maintain your disk imaging routinely with e.g. subsequent differential images.

the disk is in a good shape so I am not giving up just now.

I have used Minitiool Power data recover and my files are here in quite different shapes and states but they are not all gone

the Windows install in particular is sill present

of course I need to learn now how to recover my files because it looks like all the Libraries content (Document, Pictures, Downloads) is in a so called "NTFS compressed file" state

So thats what I thought, my guess is that CHKDSK had compressed my OS and personal files into this Found000 folders

any guidance where I should go from here or better me to go the Minitool forum now instead?

what about recovering the content of the Windows boot folder as pictured here and place it back in the Windows file structure present on my OS partition with the hope it will actually boot this time?
