UPGRADING FROM V.1803 to V.1903 ERROR CODE: 0xc1900205

Forgive my curiosity, but what exactly did you buy 6 months ago?
- the laptop
- a Windows license
- something else..

If you bought the laptop 6 months ago it's a little unfortunate it still had build 1803 on it, but quite possible of course.

It looks as if you are trying to do a manual upgrade, especially given one aspect of the error message at the bottom of your screenshot.

The option chosen- to delete everything- seems a curious choice. Is that what you wish to do?

Have you been offered the feature update by Windows Update?

If you wish to update manually, you can, for example, use the
Microsoft Media Creation tool (Google it)
and choose to download an iso file, for example.

That will be build 1903.

To use that, log in as normal.
- rt click the iso file
- click Mount (not Mount will not be available if you have associated iso's with any other program)
- open the new drive letter in file explorer
- double click setup.exe to start the upgrade

Great that you're using Macrium R.
Did you create the disk image before attempting the upgrade and when all was working well?
And is it a disk image of Windows - all the partitions created by a Windows install - or only your Windows partition?

- note all are ticked

Note- other circumstances can give rise to that error mesage, but first let's make sure you have a current iso file, just to take the simplest possibility.

Thank you dalchina. In answer to your points:
1. I bought a new laptop with a Windows license (see attachment). I have been offered the update and initially tried to install from there. This did not work, so I downloaded the Update Assistant, which is what generated the above fail messages. The above message did not give me the choice to do either of the other two options, so, naturally, I did not proceed.
As regards, the Macrium Image I thought I had created, there is nothing in the folder on the external drive! There is, however, the Windows generated ESD files that can be seen in the attachment. Am not sure if these were created by Macrium or a Windows tool. Now I see from your screenshot exactly what kind of image I should try to create with Macrium. In any case, do you recommend using both Macrium and Microsoft Media Creation tool, or is one of them enough? If I could do all this automatically, I would. I certainly am not setting out to do a manual upgrade - as I say, I am not very IT literate. Look forward to your reply and appreciate greatly your ongoing help in this matter.
