    ESD might be another option seeing it's likely a smaller file.

    When you use the Media Creation Tool to make the ISO it will be the ESD version, containing an install.esd.

    Hi,
    Yeah but you only need really the sources folder and install.esd the rest can be discarded for future use i believe.

    True, you can clean-install from the ESD file with a DISM command, I believe. That's pretty advanced stuff (besides, I'm not sure if it's possible to upgrade rather than clean install using DISM).

    It's a bit beyond the OP's original question "What is the most trouble free way to update Windows?". The ISO is probably the better answer for that.

    On first post, I think Melflormelissa mentioned update but she intended upgrade (from one version to a new one).
