    Microsoft account

I am trying to reset my daughters PC and I made the mistake of connecting it to the WiFI during the initial setup. Now it keeps asking me for a Microsoft account which I don't have and don't want. How do I get past this screen or how do I reset the PC again so it will skip this step and create a local account?

Also, I remember doing a step where I could name the PC and all that but can't find my notes. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I remember it had to do with creating a file the entering a special setup mode or something like that???

    Hello,

You should be able to select to use a local account instead of a Microsoft account like in step 24 below.

That option isn't on my screen, from what I'm reading it's because i set up the wifi? How can I reset it again?

What do you see instead? Can you post a screenshot?

If you like, you can cancel the reset, disconnect the Internet, and start over on the reset.

When you have finished resetting Windows 10, you can use the tutorial below for how to change the computer name.

I find the easiest way is to just restart the computer (ex: restart button on case if needed), and start over with the reset without an internet connection.

@Brink things are different in 1903. Being connected to net will lock you into setting up a MS account. (At least on HOME) unsure about Pro.
I have always had the habit of not ever connecting during setup ever.

Anyway to reset and get out of this loop? Even restarting the PC doesn't work since it remembers the WiFI? I need to get it to forget the wifi?

You could just create the account and go into settings and turn it into a local account after you get to the desktop.

Wow, that really sucks if they're forcing us to create one of their accounts.

But I get your point in playing along then resetting the PC again but this time don't setup the Wifi. Just seems extreme...

I figured it out, I did a CNTRL + SHFT + F3 and got into Audit mode where I could "forget" the Wifi and presto, I'm on my way.
