I followed the steps, booting from the DVD drive that had the Windows 10 program.
I did the disk partition command and then the List Disk.
It showed 0-5 partitions, with Disk 0 online with 931 GB; all the others were empty
I then did the Select disk 0
It then had a load of disk routines, but not the Clean option
I tried Clean Disk 0 and it produced an error

As this was all during the Windows Installation routine (while online), would it be better to clean the entire HDD before running the DVD installation? Or Wipe? Remember, I'm on a dual boot Linux Mint / corrupted Win10 HDD

The exact command sequence would be:
diskpart
select disk 0
clean
convert mbr
exit
exit

I'm missing something here. I did those commands after pressing Shift + F10 on the first screen during the installation to get into the Win command line. They are the same commands you posted last week but there was no Clean option nor could I just enter Clean. Is my problem related to a Linux issue while doing this?

What error do you get when you run the clean command?

Will try Berton's post first and see what happens. If that wipes the HDD clean, then I can do the Win10 DVD install. Thanks.

Just a comment: When I see issues that would best be dealt with by a truly clean install I will boot to a GPARTED LiveCD [made from the downloaded .iso file] and remove all partitions then install Windows letting it pick what is supported. I even once used GPARTED to wipe a Macintosh 500GB HDD and partition/format as FAT32, works good in a portable USB case.

Is that any different than when I use the gparted terminal command? I ask because when I use it, it will not allow me to clean the disk that previously had Windows on it. I deleted the contents of the disk partition but I get a terminal error that it still contains an MBR that apparently wasn't deleted. Thanks.

i7 2600 is a Sandy Bridge CPU (2011). My z68 MB came with a legacy only BIOS as most at that time had.

Before you begin a clean install It is important to detach ALL other disks from the MB (disconnect the power cable), leaving on only the target disk.
Boot from the installation disk, go to install - advanced and delete ALL partitions till you have only an unallocated partition. Proceed and it will create the necessary partitions.
