Trouble is I dont know what my MB will support its an MSI MS7360 P35 V1. They stopped updating the BIOS many years ago and bought out a V2.

Finally bit the bullet and did an in place upgrade on my main Core 2 Duo machine and things are running a lot smoother. No CPU spikes so far from Remote Procedure Call (2). Still looking for a Q9650 CPU at a reasonable price and in the UK.

Have updated my machine to an i5 (see specs) and everything is a lot snappier.

You can always use the old machine as a Docker Server. Getting Started with Docker | Servers for Hackers. You will need CoreOS. CoreOS Container Linux Documentation

That's not an option as I swapped hard drives into the new machine.
