Hi patrickdrd,
Please open a new thread.
I spent about 12 hours trying to update my PC and figure out why nothing was successful. My windows had been stuck on version 1703 and never installed a successful update since (current version at time of writing this is 2004). I think I had removed some crucial component of update when I was frustrated with the forced restarts interrupting my workflow. I just had no clue how to re-enable it.
I tried everything and after using the Windows Media Creation tool, I kept getting this error: 0x8007042B-0x2000D
After multiple attempts of my update reaching 28% then crashing and saying "Undoing changes" I almost gave up hope and went for a clean install. (I didn't want to do this, because I no longer have many of the authentication keys for my older programs). This thread saved me.
Using Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool to download the CURRENT version on MY PC (1703) to my flashdrive then rutting setup.exe on my PC helped repair the OS and was successful. From there I repeated the process with each iteration of windows from 1703 to 1709 to 1803.... all the way to 2004. I also ensured that I unchecked the search for updates button on each install and the improve windows update box. Each time was successful and my PC is now using the most up to date version of Windows. But best of all, I can still keep my programs!
Seriously this thread was a lifesaver (I just wished I had found it 8 hours before lol). Thank you @zbook and @BillyNoMates
That's great news.
You're welcome.
