OOBE Loop. Cannot create account during setup of new ASUS laptop.

Recently received a new, never used ASUS ZenBook 14 (ASUS UX433F) and am trying to get it setup for an employee. I'm getting stuck in a loop and not able to create an account, either via Microsoft sign in or via a local account. Here's what I'm seeing:

    • When going through the OOBE, I get to the Sign in with Microsoft screen. I sign in (and have verified the username and password several times) and get a message "Oops, something went wrong. We can't add your Microsoft account to this device right now, but it's okay. We'll help you setup, and you can sign in later in settings.

I've tried being connected both wirelessly and via ethernet.
    • I've tried the local option. When connected via ethernet, I add username, password and security questions, then, after a moment, get "Something went wrong." and am back at the "Who's going to use this PC?" screen.
    • When trying the local option NOT connected via ethernet, I add username, password and security questions, then, after a moment, get "Something went wrong." and get OOBELOCAL error.

It seems that no matter what I try, I can't get Windows setup on the new machine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

One thing that you could try is Sysprep, it is pretty good in fixing OOBE.

When you come to region selection screen, press SHIFT + F10 to open Command Prompt and enter following command:

    %windir%\System32\Sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /reboot

This clears current GUIDs and SIDs, restarts computer and runs OOBE again. Takes a minute or so.

    Thank you @Bree.

It seems like I can only get to the Sign in with Microsoft or the Local User screens of OOBE. I've tried pressing SHIFT + F10 throughout, but that doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas on how to exit that loop so that I have more options?

I'm out of ideas, but I mentioned @Kari earlier so let's wait for him to respond. He's an expert on such things.

Fixed. At long last and just before I was going to toss it out the window.

To resolve, I did a series of hard resets. That forced the OOBE to restart from the beginning.

Then I made sure it was disconnected from the outset.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
