Updating to 1903 with no problems

I was able to update my new HP Windows10 Home to build 1903 last night with no problems.
I shut down all programs running in the background, ran my preferred "clean-up" temp cleaner, set a new restore point and went for it ......... Absolutely no problems!!

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I used this same method while testing and using Windows 7.

Right but how did you update ?

    There are many ways

If you have Pro go to Windows Update>Advanced Options and see if the ability to Defer Feature Updates is shown.

Some of us people running Pro do not get that option showing up in Advanced Options.

It`s no big deal just wanna see if you got the option.

If you use W10 Home than never mind.

Just wondering why you think a restore point helps in this case? Restore points are deleted by design when upgrading.

What you need is a current disk image- just in case.

dalchina, the reason I thought to do a restore point, was just in case there might be a glitch.... Do you know for sure that if I hadn't created one, that I couldn't go back?

    Yes. Think logically about it.

Even if you used a restore point from 1809 in 1903, you would be potentially restoring drivers, the registry, and programs and system files as they were in 1809. Thus, for example, you could replace a drive downloaded in 1903 with one for 1809, and be reinstating an 1809 update in 1903.

Totally meaningless and likely to stop your PC working.

Hi Team just migrated from W7 Ultmate 64bit (Whew!) using the free upgrade option to W10 Pro. Anyway, i've updated after a seamless upgrade that took approx 30-50 mins total (x3 reboots), and all i have in update options (at this stage maybe), is; "Pause Updates" all I have from there is select any date from 7th day on to Sept 14th. Never seen this b4, is this typical of W10 updates to be spasmodic team? It also says "it will need to get more updates b4 you can pause again" I got x2 but still cant seem to trigger updates to how W7 used to be; I can, however, choose to update now & away she goes & installs what she finds, only Audio & Chipset driver plus definitions updates so far (W7 was always fully updated). Cheers Team keen to hear remarks or the like.

You should also have these options if you click on Advanced Options below Pause Updates

Also see the group policy editor: (you should have Win 10 Pro)

I'm running windows pro and done all updates to 1903 with no problem. I went back to 1803 I feel more comfortable with it and it seems to run smoother even starts faster. I think restore points are erased when we do updates like Oct.2018 and May 2019
