You can also download win 8.1 and win 10 iso using Rufus...
You can get Windows 8.1 direct from Microsoft, they have a download page for Windows 8.1 ISOs.

Thanks Z. I prefer to get them from MS directly. I'll save the links though, just in case.

well Try3, while it is true that the Home & Pro editions of Win10 v1607 went EOL on April 2018 (but the Education and Enterprise editions of 1607 went out of support on April 2019), Microsoft created a minor exception in allowing devices with Intel Clover View or Clover Trail CPUs to continue receiving updates for 1607 [link to the MS blog concerning that issue]

the "recent" cumulative updates for 1607 are "smart" enough to check whether using such hardware and will allow installation of those updates only on Clovertrail devices and block installation on many others.

also I found these quotes in recent support articles for the 1607 cumulative updates like KB4507459:

Windows 10, version 1607, reached end of service on April 10, 2018. Devices running Windows 10 Home or Pro editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.

IMPORTANT: Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education editions will receive additional servicing at no cost until April 9, 2019. Devices on the Long-Term Servicing Channels (LTSC) will continue to receive updates until October 2026 per the Lifecycle Policy page. Windows 10 Anniversary Update (v. 1607) devices running the Intel “Clovertrail” chipset will continue to receive updates until January 2023 per the Microsoft Community blog.

I'm getting a 404 on that top link, and TechBench doesn't provide 1607 anymore.

The Universal Windows Downloader doesn't work either, it just shows greyred-out buttons (maybe it's just a GUI for TechBench?)

The Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool 8.46 seems to work

The uup files for build 1607 have been removed from the Microsoft servers.

There are only the ISO files on the Microsoft servers.

But you can download a iso with the Universal MCT wrapper script:

GitHub - AveYo/MediaCreationTool.bat: Universal MCT wrapper script for all Windows 10/11 versions from 1507 to 21H2!

Be very careful here. A lot of these tablets used special drivers and used a customised version of W8 OS (the Bing version). Upgrading to W10 can be tricky as the drivers for these sorts of devices were often not in the standard iso. Worse still, these sorts of tablets often used a 32bit uefi bootloader.

I strongly recommend you make an image backup with Macrium Reflect (the only image tool that worked seamlessy based on my tests).

Obviously check if 32bit uefi. If OS says it is Bing version, that is very likely.

Once you have an image backup, export all 3rd pary drives to a flash drive.

Then upgrade. Do not clean install.

TBH I would not upgrade to W10. The anniversary version is no longer supported by W8 is still supported for 1 year.

So from a security viewpoint thse tablets have a 1 year life at best.

Unless you really know what you are doing, there is a fair chance you will semi brick the tablets e.g. screen rotation does not work, or touchscreen does not work.

To me there is no real benefit of upgrading - many say W8 is more tablet friendly that W10 anyway.
