    1804 t0 1903

    Hi all,
    I'm running Win 1803 and I notice when checking for updates the 1903 version does not appear. No biggie, What I've got is OK but wondering......is there any reason it doesn't update? BTW I have all settings to automatic.

    Probably for the same reason Windows Update didn't upgrade you to 1809.

    It can happen to some folks, could be a setting in your windows that stopped it. Read this tutorial on how to upgrade your Windows. Maybe your SSD does not have enough room, could be lots of different reasons.

    Hi there
    @lffoar

    just get the latest (or choose what one you want) build from UUPDUMP, make an iso using the script and then either run the setup.exe to upgrade existing system or create a bootable USB via rufus to do a clean install. Some builds will fail still if there's USB external HDD's in the system while doing the upgrade -- later builds have fixed that error.

    UUP dump

    Choose Windows version you want and the language and go for it --you can also use insider builds without being a member of the insider program.

    As always though backup system before statring so you can restore if it all goes pear shaped. (Actually I like pears so it always seems unfortunate that the pear is used as a reference when things get hosed up !!!!!).

    @OldMike65

    the UUPDUMP process when installing windows will check whether system has enough space before starting -- BTW a windows.old will be created which can be removed after the update -- depending on the size of your actual Windows installation this could be around 25 - 30 GB so allow for that when checking HDD / SSD space considerations

    Cheers

    Many thanks to all. I downloaded the "assistant" and updated to 1903 no probs apart from a couple of things I had to re-install.
    Now.....Can I delete the windows old folder as it takes up 25Gb or no??

    Yes, if you're confident that you won't wish to revert.

    You won't be able to delete it normally. Use Disk Cleanup (Windows Administrative Tools).

    Great Job , now if everything is done, and running well, you should make a complete image backup now. We suggest using Macrium Reflect for all your backups. Its a free app. Use a completely separate drive to store your backup images. External drive is best method if possible.
