Can you recommend a better way to get the iso download.
    a. search for Microsoft Media Creation tool and when you use it select the appropriate option - for the current build.
    b. search for Heidoc iso downloader and use that - for any build

Before I did that I checked TM to look at Performance. CPU was showing around 10-15 %.
Higher than I'd expect or want. Have a look why. But probably unrelated to your comments about IE

Windows 10 preview version ? What are you talking about ? If you want W10 1903, here it is, as already given to you. Just click the Download Tool Now Link and run it after you download it. Then simply follow the directions to download the ISO file. That`s it, that`s all you have to do.

After you have the ISO file saved, open it with windows explorer and click setup, the 1903 install will begin. You will come to a page that says "Save all apps and documents" so of course you`ll click yes.

Internet Explorer sucks anyway, not sure why you bother to use it.

As far as delaying Feature updates, you should have that set to 365 days. That way you can download the Iso file of the next version and do the update whenever YOU want to. I always recommend waiting 2 or 3 months after the new Update has come out to download it.

This can be done in Pro, not Home, you have Pro so you can do it.

And when you get the corrupted windows system file check (which you most likely will) just run this command as Admin and it will fix it. Credit to Cliff

    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\&fsutil usn deletejournal /d /n c:&Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase&pause

About to update the Z170 to 1903, be right back

Started at 3:00 PM back to the desktop at 3:41 PM

Not crazy about the new Windows Update look, but it`s just my opinion

    1809 successfully installed.
Took about 2 hours and downloaded 6.6 GB.
Can I delete the Windows.old folder?
2 hours, this is why the ISO method is so much better, it doesn`t take 2 hours to download the Iso file, (unless of course if you have some type of restriction in place). And it certainly doesn`t take 2 hours to install 1903 using the ISO method.

By the way. Nobody seems to be able to explain why IE11 is now 5 times slower (at least) after the 1903 upgrade.
After some more discussion I have restored Win 10 to the previous version using the Restore feature. Now it is ver 1809 again.

Then I ran Image Health to find and repair one corrupt file. I also downloaded the 1903 iso file as a precaution for any future problems. Update now on pause.

Restarting Edge and IE 11 are now back to their original speeds and CPU usage (with this page open in IE11 ) around 25%

As I suspected, 1903 upgrade did something my PC had trouble with. I will leave the upgrade pending and see what other reports come in before I try the iso upgrade method.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

I started to make the change to 1903 from the iso file and it ran as described. BUT, when I got to the "choose what to keep", it wouldn't allow me to keep all files and apps! The brief reason given was that I had chosen to install with a different language version!

Which of the various languages was it objecting to? The language used as the default I have the OS set to? The language of the download? The language of the PC supplier?
Or what? And how do I find out what it means and how to change things so it works properly.
    Ugh!

Hi, this message can occur if you have made certain registry changes. For example, have you specified where programs are to be installed by default?

Please confirm you created the iso using the media creation tool run on your current OS.

You can check your iso file build etc:

    and your OS:

The system language of the Windows you have currently. That is not necessarily the language you have set it up to use and display. Use dalchina's links to find out.

For example, the machine I'm currently using (System One below) is a UK model, but was supplied by Toshiba with the en-us Windows 7, configured to use en-gb as it's input language. The free upgrade to W10 installed the en-us upgrade, so I needed the en-us iso to upgrade to the next version (1511) of W10. Trying to use the en-gb iso said I couldn't keep my apps.

As I feared, there is a conflict! I will look at the other checks tomorrow.
    Th CMD report is:
Default system UI language : da-DK
The UI language fallback is : en-US
    System locale : en-GB
Default time zone : Romance Standard Time
    Active keyboard(s) : 0809:00000406, 0406:00000406, 0409:00000406
Keyboard layered driver : PC/AT Enhanced Keyboard (101/102-Key)

    Installed language(s): da-DK
Type : Partially localized language, MUI type.
    Fallback Languages en-US
    Installed language(s): en-GB
Type : Partially localized language, MUI type.
    Fallback Languages en-US, da-DK
    Installed language(s): en-US
    Type : Fully localized language.

The UI language resulted from me not seeing in time that it was the default install from the OS install provided on the hard disc when I bought the PC. This has happened to me three times on different PCs as I do not react to the "select install language" page fast enough!

I have set the system language to en-us but occasionally get fault messages in da-dk.
Can I make the UI once and for all en-us or en-gb? If not then how do I get round the conflict?
