    Refreshing Windows 10

I have a Windows 10 computer that I have been using 5 years and things have slowed. In the past I would reformat and reinstall Windows then set up everything. However a friend said just to refresh Windows through the app keeping all my files in place. Is the reformat route better or the same?

Reformat and clean install is better.

Why not try the refresh, keepin all data and files, and see what it does for you? You can always do the Clean Install if you don't like the results. You can't change your mind one the clean install is done

I think it's worth an hours time to see what happens.

The first thing you need to do is backup your current install. The best way to do this is to use Macrium Reflect Free to make an image backup to an external hard drive. If you don't have an external hard drive now is a good time to get one as regular backup should be a part of your normal process. You can get a 1TB external hard drive for $60 (less if on sale).

Then do your refresh or clean install.
