    Tidying/reorganising disk

    Hello Members
I have finally updated my old work laptop from W8.1 pro to Win 10 pro.
During the process I was shy of wiping the disk 0 and only formatted C:. Consequently I have a bit of a mongrel looking disk

Should I reinstall again and wipe the disk beforehand or is there an other option for bettering the setup?
    Thanks

You could probably fiddle around with a disk tool like Minidisk and do what you need to do, but I'd probably start over out of simplicity.

Unless you have devoted hours to configuring AFTER you did the install.

I'd delete ALL of those partitions until you have 100% "unallocated space". Then let Windows do whatever it thinks is necessary.

I'm assuming you have or can get the appropriate installation media for Windows 10.

    Thanks ,
that's what I will do as the disk just looks like a rat's nest atm.
No problem with install media as I had downloaded it with media creation tool a while ago. All good with activation as well. It also seems to run smoother/faster than with W8.1.
Haven't tested to far ahead yet in regards of drivers though seems to be fine. I'll post back once re-done.

May as well recreate the install media via Media Creation Tool to get the latest version available---rather than rely on Windows Update to get whatever is new since you made your current media.

    But either way should work.

Bummer, didn't think that far and W8.1 is well gone. So no choice?

Use the command reagentc /info and peruse the partition contents using Minitool Partition Wizard to work out which recovery partition is being used by Windows 10. Then delete all partitions except C:, the wanted recovery partition and the 100Mb and 128MB partitions at the start of the drive needed to boot Windows. You can then fiddle about using Partition Wizard to move the wanted recovery partition to the end of the drive and extend C: to use the unallocated space. It should work but do a full backup of all partitions using Macrium Reflect or a similar reliable program. Note you don't need a recovery partition if you are prepared to use a USB repair drive.

Personally, I would wipe the drive and do a clean install - but ensure you do a full backup first. Also check your current installation is activated with a digital licence before you do this.

Right now you are wasting 122GB on the drive (unallocated), and your C: drive is only 94GB. If it were I, I would wipe the drive completed and do a clean install to a completely unallocated drive.

    Activated and everything.
Just writing this on the portable and slow FF browser as I want to sell this(office)laptop.
Prefer not to change anything on this OS or load any other programs.

I assume that was a clean install?

Clean install after the first install was messy as outlined at the beginning.
I'm very happy how it looks now.
