    Dual boot question 7-10

    Hello,
I thought it might be a good idea to make a dual boot system,so I can
gradually tweak my system to upgrade to W10.
    But...

Can I "tweak"all installed programs so they work under w10 and under w7?

Welcome to the forum. It's not clear what you are trying to do are you planning to upgrade 7 to 10? You take a disk image of 7 then upgrade any problems you can role back. You should not need to tweak anything

    Hello,
    I'm planning to upgrade.
    But,
as I have lots of programs,I need lots of time to make all things work.
That's why I had that idea to make a dual boot configuration,
I can use w7,and meanwhile make w10 ready to use with all my programs.

Agreed, you don`t have to do anything to your programs, just update to W10.

The only problem you might have is if W10 does not support one of your programs.

But your plan is fine, do that if you want

    Run the Upgrade Adviser.

    Hello,
I did not mention my W7 is not able to update(for any reason) to W10.

Hi There's nothing to tweak so programs working on W7 also work on W10, 99% works as they are. Others either work or not. You can make it a dual boot but I would suggest on separate disks because systems are too close and easy to mix them up i boot sector. Than you would have to do clean install anyway. Another option is to run W10 in W7 VM. and try it out. Otherwise. like Samuria said, backup update and if something is not to your satisfaction just restore it. W10 also works best after a clean install, not so good when just upgraded from W7 and you will have to do it sooner or later.

Please edit your profile with all hardware specs. It will help us to help you.

Before you attempt to do a win 7 "upgrade" or Win 10 fresh install make a disk image and save it to an external disk so you can always restore your Win 7 OS.

If for some reason you can't "upgrade" to win 10 due to hardware limitations, you won't be able to install win 10.
