Looking to Insltall 1903 and noticed that 1809 is not installed

I am not seeing 1903 availability for downloading on my Win 10 Home laptop. So far I am waiting for the automatic download and not using the Update Assistant. The update history shows 1803 as the latest feature update and 1809 is not shown. Should I try to download and install 1809? With 1809 not installed will that prevent 1903 from being installed. Thanks.

    Hi,
No just download 1903 iso or esd files and run them
It saves a lot of time anyway already having either files.
Make a system image first though.

If you wanted to wait, 1903 should be available via Windows Update soon.

Microsoft auto-updating Windows 10 version 1803 and earlier to 1903

Thanks Brink and Trashzone. Since there is a process to receive 1903 on my current 1803 laptop I will wait. It seems to be the safest way to go. If 1903 does not become available in a month or two I will download and install it and of course image my computer beforehand. 1809 definitely never became available for my computer for an automatic download. I wonder why.

No, you don't need 1809. A week ago I had the 1903 feature update appear in Windows Update for an 1803 machine. I let it install through WU and all went well.

    Hi,
Doing it through update system will take longer
Having the files already will cut down the install time considerably.

I looked at information on the 1809 update that I am missing and it seems to be for IT professionals with some miscellaneous other updates that are covered in other updates. So it seems that going on without it will be ok. I will have to watch in the future to make sure that I am getting all of the updates to Windows 10. I have assumed in the past that I was getting them. If I don't get the 1903 update my confidence in automatic updates will be gone.
