Little Lenovo is on 18362.116, so I'm testing the information y'all gave me. I plugged in the USB stick, copied the resulting files (from mounting) onto my desktop and clicked on Setup.

Little Lenovo started the update from 18362.116 and things seemed to go well, however . . .

Whoops, I left the USB stick in and got the infamous message!

I was hoping that removing the USB stick and going back a couple steps would work, but it didn't. So, started over, beginning with a reboot of the computer.

OK, the files were still on my desktop, so I clicked on Setup again. Got a message asking if I wanted to "Continue where I left off" . . . Here's hoping.

And it actually started where I left off; I'm at Installing Windows 10; 10%. Things look good, but I want to go through the whole thing to be sure. Of course Little Lenovo is slower than molasses in January.

    And, now I'm on 1903 (18362.145)!

First, let me say that I've heretofore used either Rufus or CDCC from (oldie but free). Therefore, I've not been subjected to the 4GB limit on a fat 32 stick; won't forget that, though. First lesson learned.

It's also interesting that when I forgot and left the USB stick plugged in, then got the nasty message that windows couldn't install, after a reboot, things started where I left off. So, the time spent on the first attempt to install didn't go to waste.

A very good learning experience, to say the least.

I hope Microsoft has cured the USB stick problem, though. This isn't the way I actually want to update computers!

Oh, one more thing . . . although the USB stick problem may be cured in 18362.145, it must be installed before it will work.

If you'd only waited a couple of hours you would have been on Patch Tuesday's 18362.175
