Dual Boot Two Windows 10 Two Different Drives

    Hello,

I'm running Windows 10 (1803) on a HDD (in a laptop). I used the Windows 10 Media-Creation Tool (running from this HDD) to create a bootable installation-USB.

I just installed a PCIe SSD, booted from the USB, and tried to install Windows 10 (1903) onto the SSD.

The installation did not finish, as I got an error related to winload.efi.

I'm guessing that I'm experiencing a predictable problem. What did I do wrong?

I can still boot to the 1803-installation on the HDD.

I'd like to be able to boot to the SSD by default but also be able to boot to the HDD if need be. I'd like to avoid having to take the laptop apart again, if possible.

    All assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Not sure what your problem is. I have a Dell laptop that has an M.2 2280 SSD and I added a conventional SSD and have two Win 10's dual boot. I didn't do anything special or disable the M.2 SSD image, just installed the new Win 10 on the added SSD. I did that on mine as I sometimes use it for my recording studio and needed a "clean" image for recording (or use the original Dell image for regular PC ops).

My Dell (Inspiron 15 5577) has the M.2 SSD and space for either a SATA laptop hard drive or full size SATA SSD.

Have you tried to install Win 10 again (and delete all partitions - reformat drive before installing).

Here is the error I'm getting after the USB-installation finishes its first phase:
