I just bought a Lenovo Yoga C730 for my wife to use. It has a 1 GB Win_RE partition.
Is that Win_RE specific to this model Yoga and to the Windows 10 Home already installed on this system?
Can I copy this partition and install it on my homebuilt desktop system? They are fully licensedbut they are running Windows 10 Pro.

If it is 1 gb in size, then it is specific to that computer. Why do you want to copy it to your desktop computer?
The partition is 1 GB. The file(s) is/are about 450 MB. Does that make it specific to each system?
My desktop is a home-built system that started out with Win 7 and then got upgraded to Win 10. If I ever need Win_RE, right now I would plug in the USB drive with the upgrade that matches the Windows version, e.g. 1803.
If you open a Powershell (Admin) or Command (Admin) in Windows 10 and run:
reagentc /info
What is the result?
If the result is enabled, then you already have Recovery Environment enabled and copying the partition won't do any good. Upgrading to 1903 by mounting iso as a drive and running setup.exe will create the correct WinRe partition.
Although it is not essential to have it, you will not be able to reset your pc without it but as others say, you can use an installation drive anyway to do same.
A MUCH more pertinent reason now for having a WinRE partition is if you use Macrium Reflect.
You need it to create a new style WinRe Macrium Rescue Drive but you can still create old style WinPE Rescue Drive without it.
Main difference is WinRe Rescue Drives support WiFi networking so you can image backup via wifi over a network (great for tablets, low capacity drives etc).
Creating a WinRE Rescue drive takes less space on hard drive as you do not need to download nearly 1GB of WinPE ADK files either (although these can be later deleted).
