    Clean install Windows 10 1903

Is there a problem with the Clean Install method with 1903? I have read about problems with USB flash drives and another one I read was some problem with SD cards.
Can you clean install Windows 10 1903 using a USB flash drive?
And what is the SD card issue? My Pc does have an SD card but Ive never used it so I know nothing about them at all.
Id like to use the Media Creation Tool to download the ISO to my PC. Prepare the USB flash drive using Diskpart. Then, mount the ISO and copy the Windows 10 files onto the flash drive. Has anybody else done a clean install of 1903 yet? The posts Ive read forum members have either updated to 1903 through Windows Update, the Update assistant or by performing a repair Install

    Per member Addram:

Just use the download tool to download the Iso file.

Once you have the Iso file, open it with explorer and click on setup.exe

Ya but that`s not a clean install ignatz

@sportsfan148, why do you want to do a clean install ?

You`ll have to do everything all over again.

Just use the Iso file method to update what you have.

    Addram:

    What is that equivalent to??

    "Repair install"?

    "Upgrade install"

    Something else?

I'm not clear on exactly how running setup like that differs from a clean?

I assume you mean it leaves program installations and data on C untouched?

Yes to your last statement but No to all the others. I suppose you could say it`s an upgrade install, but I don`t scrutinize it that much.

It installs the new version just like windows update would, but it so much faster, safer and easier.

A clean install is done when you boot from the usb stick, running it from within windows just installs the new features.

Sometimes I just prefer to start with a clean slate so I prefer to do a clean install. I don't have much software on my PC at the moment so now is a perfect time for me to do a clean installation. Ignatz method isn't a clean install...if Im correct his method is what is known as a repair install.
Like I said a Clean Install is always my preferred method

That`s fine, but you are taking a chance, Kol12 took 12 hours to do his because his sound card wasn`t compatible.

If you are gonna do a clean install, please make an image of what you have now with Macrium Reflect before you start.

I thought that's what the Update method on the Microsoft site did? Im talking about the Update method at the top of the same page where you download the Media Creation Tool

Ya but that way takes so long.

Ignatz method ? I do not see where he shows a method.

If you want to do a clean install, than just download the Iso file, and prepare the usb stick however you see fit.

Ignatz method was "Just use the download tool to download the Iso file. Once you have the Iso file, open it with explorer and click on setup.exe"
