Upgrade Assistant From 1809 to 1903 Stuck at 27%
Greetings
I haven't gotten the Feature Update notification in Update and Security, so I decided to download the Upgrade Assistant to do the update manually.
I ran the download assistant and got 3 green check marks. The update seemed to download without incident. The installation then began after the system went to the blank blue screen. I got a notification that the install would take about 90 minutes and the machine would restart several times. OK.
I came back 2 hours later and the update was stuck at 27%. I restarted the machine and restored an image taken just prior to the update.
Thinking I was, perhaps a bit hasty, I downloaded the assistant again and ran it again. The update downloaded and installation appeared to start. I went to bed. After I got up about 6 hours later, I checked and the update was stuck at 27%. I again restored a pre-update image.
Here are some details. Maybe I should have put these at the top of the post
-am upgrading from 1809. Have downloaded and installed all available updates. Build is 17763.529. Latest versions of drivers available from Dell are installed (I did notice that certain driver updates were suggested for certain devices, but I couldn't find the suggested driver versions)
-Machine is an XPS 9550 attached to a Dell D16 Thunderbolt dock with a 240W power supply. The connection to the dock is a cable from the internal Thunderbolt port
-the internal drive is a 512GB NVMe M.2
-processor is i7 6700HQ
-32GB RAM
-there are 2 external drives attached to USB ports (one for backup and one for data). The data drive is attached to an internal USB port. The backup drive is attached to the Dell dock
-there are 2 MIDI controllers connected to the Thunderbolt dock. Also attached to the dock is a unified receiver for my mouse and keyboard. Finally, the USB cable from the monitor is attached to the dock
-I use an external monitor attached to an internal HDMI port. As mentioned above, it is attached to the Dell dock. There is an ILok dongle attached to one of the ports on the back of the monitor
-there is an audio interface attached to an internal USB port
Please forgive the rather pedantic detail, but I wanted to make sure you guys had all the info so that you could respond with foreknowledge if you choose to do so.
So any ideas? Any quick adjustments? Can I alter my physical configuration and try again? Disconnect everything, attach the original power supply and redo? Or should I just take a pass and wait til it shows up in Update and Security? If I wait, will I still have the same issues? Lots of questions and any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks and Happy Memorial Day to my American cousins (from the wilds of northern Alberta)
