Any Way To Remove Linux From An Older PC & Replace With Windows?

    Hello Everyone,

I already have Win 10 on this Laptop but thought I might give Linux a shot on an older laptop, just to try it out. Turns out it's not my cup of tea. Is there some way I can prep the older laptop by formatting the drive or deleting the Linux, so that I might consider installing a Win OS on it? Or am I just out of luck?

My apologies if this is not something a Windows expert can resolve.

    Thanks to all in advance

What Windows version was on the old laptop?
If Windows 8 or 10 all you really need is to go to windows download page and download
    the media creation tool.
When you run it you can create a usb drive your older laptop can boot from.
After the boot just follow the directions and delete all partitions and let it recreate them and install win 10.
You should take note on whether your laptop is set to to uefi or csm(legacy)

    thomaseg1,

Thank you for your suggestions. The older laptop had old stuff on it, just a Win Vista OS, and even that never ran very well. I'm guessing I may be just out of luck in this case, but thanks again!

I have installed Windows 10 on several laptops that have run Vista, and most of them don't have a problem. Any drivers that are required can be downloaded from the Manufacturer and installed in Compatibility mode to make them Compatible with 10.

    spunk,

Thank you for your reply. I think what I was getting at here is that this old laptop now only has Linux on it, and that I don't really care for it. There is no install of Vista on it. So my original question revolved around the issue of wondering how I might clean off the Linux, perhaps some kind of format of the drive or a delete of the OS. I tried fooling around with it but I run into a lot of linux jargon and it's a bit too much for me.

Perhaps I need to get into a Linux forum and ask these questions.

In any case, thank you for replying

Linux uses several partitions, Its Better to delete them all and start fresh, that way there's no leftovers.

    thomaseg1,

I thought about that and started getting into it. I wanted to delete the partitions but I got stopped dead in my tracks by technical jargon that was asking to make selections and I couldn't recognize what the OS was asking, so I just gave up and exited the session. I may take another crack at it

    thomaseg1,

Thanks for the suggestion about the install tutorial. I did a little preliminary reading and I noticed that it's pretty lengthy and comprehensive, but I hope to check it out in greater detail a little later. From what I see, the install can pretty much eliminate what was already on the computer, correct?
