    1) The link for chkdsk displayed Date: 19/01/2019 22:24:05
Please find the most recent report using chkdsk /r /v and post a share link into the thread.

    2) Clean all and make sure not to clean mini and memory dump files.

    3) Open control panel > category > programs > uninstall a program > post share links displaying all installed programs

    4) Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device > post images into the thread

    5) The V2 log collector was designed to run on Windows 10. It will not run on Windows 8. For Windows 8 please use the DM log collector.

    6) Make a backup image using Macrium:

    7) Save the backup image to another disk drive (do not save to another partition on the same drive)

    8) post a share link for the sfcdetails.txt file that was produced on the desktop running the findstr command

    9) Confirm that Windows defender is on

    10) Open disk management > by default columns are compressed > widen each Status and Volume > make sure the contents within the parenthesis are in full view and none of the characters are cutoff > check the row for disk 0 and make sure the contents in each column are in full view and none of the characters are cutoff

The logs displayed BSOD on 5/19 and 5/20.
Had you seen any BSOD windows with bugcheck and : ( ?

When was the computer placed into clean boot?
Were the BSOD while in clean boot?

Please do not attempt Windows upgrades until the BSOD are fixed and the computer is tuned up.

After the next upgrade attempt plan to post new Panther logs.

    1) The chkdsk report appeared to be chkdsk without any switches:
    Code:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk
The type of the file system is NTFS.

    WARNING! F parameter not specified.
    Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.

    2) Run this command overnight and post a share link for the results: chkdsk /r /v C:

Yes every time I tried to upgrade, that is when I have to power off and restart the pc and it undo the changes to the pc.
When was the computer placed into clean boot?
Yesterday when you told me to. It is still in Clean boot!
Were the BSOD while in clean boot?
Yes, I only get it when I try to update to Win 10!
Clean BootWhen it restarts the services on the screenshot below are shown as enabled again. Is this normal?

I have done BUT I get the notification to press a key to skip running chkdsk and although I do not press any keys it does skip running chkdsk and just loads Windows! Which explains why I cannot find the report! Uninstalled WinPatrol

Will do when I get back from the doctors this evening.
One thing I have noticed is that the pc runs much smoother and faster!
    Thanks.

    7) Save the backup image to another disk drive (do not save to another partition on the same drive)...
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free for free...

    @scopio
If I were you, I'd save an image (Macrium) of system partitions (or all of them) to an external drive, creating of course a Macrium rescue flash drive (from inside Macrium).
Then, booting from a USB Win10 flash drive, I'd delete system partitions (or all of them, selecting Win10 'Custom' installation), and clean install Win10 to 'Unallocated space' (not partition), just to see if and how Win10 would run on this machine...

As for activation (if I'd decide to stay on Win10) I'd have followed this:
Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First

After that, if everything goes right and if 'upgrade' is anyway needed, I'd return to Win 8.1 (Macrium restore) to fight with it...having on my side one of the best warriors: @zbook

All above, takes about one or two hours of your life (given that you've created a USB Win10 installation flash drive and a Macrium rescue one, to be able to restore), making you sure about Win10 installation on this machine and its behavior. No need of product key or any kind of drivers, Win10 (if everything's ok) should install all or almost all the proper ones, especially after internet access.

Finally, if everything fails you may easily return to 8.1, thanks to Macrium.

@zbook just THANKS for offering us your knowledge and help!!!

    1) For the image with performance options and advanced tab > view the section on virtual memory > click on change > the pop up window should display Virtual Memory > post an image using a share link

    2) The failure to upgrade may be fixed by the method that HeM posted. This method can be done instead of troubleshooting misbehaving drivers.

    3) Run showkeyplus:
    ShowKeyPlus

    4) After the clean install windows will install default drivers. Run the Dell driver update software to see if there other tested drivers available for the computer configuration. Applications will need to be reinstalled. Windows will need to be customized. Bookmarks may need to be redone.

    5) If you prefer to troubleshoot drivers that can be done with windows driver verifier. Then when there are no longer any BSOD an upgrade can be attempted. Troubleshooting takes longer than a clean install.

    6) Check the Dell website to see whether there are options for 64x and whether there are options to have more usable RAM.
Changing from 32x to 64x is one other consideration for upgrading.

Just noticed something else and that is that when I first power on the pc System says Windows 8 is not, I click on Activate Windows and after closing Control Panel and opening System again it states Windows 8 is activated, this seems to happen every time I power on the pc!
