Help my Windows 10 is gone
I bought a laptop it had windows 10 on it then I decided to test out the Enterprise Edition trial but I didn't write down the windows key code down so now I can't downgrade back to basic windows 10 & my trial version expires in 11 days, what I tried was factory resetting to my default windows keeping my data but it didn't put back the default windows 10 its still the Enterprise Edition...
So is that normal or do I have to do a full clean reinstall in order to revert back to Windows 10 basic, as its suppose to be hard baked into my Factory Reset on this laptop, why didn't it work, I don't or rather can't place a new windows 10 because it costs 100$ I already had it on my pc its part of the laptop & its model so how do I go about recovering my old windows 10 basic.
None of this was mentioned while upgrading I wish it would had stored my old windows 10 key code info for me, besides that the enterprise edition was misleading it was suppose to be a barebones OS with less cluster but it had the exact same stuff I was wanting off the pc to start with sadly I don't know what to do & don't feel like upgrading for a product that didn't meet my desires or paying for what a already had before hand.
I did back up my product key id but that's pretty much useless with the activation key lame.

Hi there
You should be able to download Windows or the media creation tool -- ensure it's the same Windows edition as you previously had on your laptop -- Windows HOME / PRO depending on what you had.
Install clean -- it should be OK as you should have a digital license created when you first used the laptop from the store.
Next time also always take an image of your system before doing these sorts of things -- Macrium Free is a free product and should do that.
Cheers

You seem to have 'Reset your PC' not done a factory reset - only the former allows you to keep your data.
Recovery options in Windows 10 - Windows Help
For a factory reset procedure, which differs between brands, check your computer manual or your computer maker's support site. The factory reset will return the whole disk to the state it was in when you opened the box so you must backup your data to an external drive first.

I don't see a factory reset option, only a reset keep file or delete them I'll try the download link I have backed up my data.

It says my version of windows doesn't support the download tool.

Try3 is correct. You are not going into the proper setting in your laptop to do a factory reest. What is the make and model of your laptop? You could also look up the proper procedure in your laptop manual.

This is an Asus FX504 Laptop I bought it from amazon, I just total reset it this time but its still a Enterprise Evaluation not the default home it came with, I am not sure what to do, I don't even recall there even being a key code when I got it Windows home was active ut I do believe I recall seeing XXXXXXXXXXXXX type in keycode, but windows was already installed so maybe I just never had it, this is very frustrating I want to revert back to widows home but there isn't an option that I can find I'll try the asus website but I guess I just have to resell the laptop back to amazon, for 660$ get atleast most of my money back & let them figure out how to but a new OS on it, while I better a better model with one.
Edit Nope the manual wasn't any help at all.
Well rip I'll have to download & install Linux till I'm able to resell this garbage.

If your manual does not say anything then you must go to their support website or their user forums.
Everything you have done so far is just a Windows 'Reset your PC' which is not a factory reset.
