Is it normal to have problems installing Win10 on SSD?

When you bring up the 1 time boot menu, do you see 2 listing for the same usb stick ? One UEFI and one not ?

Because I see your HD`s are MBR but your SSD`s are GPT.

What format do you want the SSD`s to be ? EFI or MBR ?

Is the SSD the only drive connected when you try to do the install ?

Have you tried any other usb sticks with the Media Creation Tool ?

Example of my Lexar 16GB stick showing both options.
Yes, in the boot menu I see two options, one UEFI and one not.

I don't care what format my SSD should be in, as long as it works.

SSD is not the only connected HDD.

I have tried other USB sticks before, but for this specific instance have only used 1 USB

Well, if you choose the UEFI option, your disk has to be GPT, which you say your SSD`s are.

You should ALWAYS unplug any/all other drives connected to the motherboard when installing windows (just the power cables)

Not sure, maybe this usb stick is somehow corrupted, since you can not use the MCT successfully.

That might be the problem, I think I might have booted into legacy USB win10 mode and then formatted it to GPT. Could that be the problem? If so, anyway to choose between MBR/GPT in the WIn10 install?

You don`t format a drive MBR or GPT, the term for that is initialize.

No you can`t choose between the 2 during an install, not them I`m aware of. That option needs to be done before you install windows.

And if you choose the wrong one during the very beginning of the install, you will get a message saying Windows can not be installed to/on this disk.

Are you deleting the SSD down to un allocated space at the beginning of the install ?

If not, you need to do that.

This is how I setup a usb stick using Rufus. I always install windows on a MBR drive, I only want 1 partition on my OS drive, and there is no speed gain with UEFI.

I`m assuming you have the W10 Iso already downloaded.

Yes, I always delete the SSD down to unallocated space before install. Anecdote, sometimes I get the message saying that Windows cannot be installed onto this disk, deleting back to unallocated space usually fixes the problem, but occasionally I still cannot install Windows on the SSD, have to restart. (I've tried reinstalling Windows 10 many many times)

That might be my mistake, I use GPT for Rufus

If you are making a USB install disk for Windows 10 using Rufus and are going to use it on a UEFI system then you need to set Partition Scheme to GPT and File System to Fat 32. I think this is what you are trying to do.
