    Upgrade Dell M6300 Mobile WorkStation

I have a Dell Precision M6300 Mobile WorkStation running xp pro. Is it possible to install 7Pro on it or even 10 pro? I have a 7 install disk that is an official Microsoft disk. Specks on the M6300 are as follows: Windows XP Pro; Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0 GHz), 1GB Memory; 80GB HDD; 17.0-inch LCD Display; DVD/CDRW, 256 MB NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1600M Video
It has outstanding audio when playing an .mp3 or watching a video.

Maybe. I have managed to get Win 10 X64 running on an older, weaker system than that.

1GB of RAM is a bit meager, but according to crucial.com, it can upgraded to as much as 8 GB. I suggest at least 4GB if running a 64 bit version.

It really has an 80 GB HD? That's sufficient to install Windows 10 (even the 64 bit version).

    Best of luck.

Here is the Crucial memory listing for the M6300 Workstation laptop. Crucial is guaranteed to work in a Dell and what we recommend on the Dell forums. Also do not mix memory, only install all the same brand/type.

Dell's have a history of memory compatibility with non Dell branded memory, especially the older models from that era. Only buy memory where its guaranteed to work, such as Crucial, or where they have a liberal return policy in case it does not work.

I wish to thank each one for personally for your reply to this thread. I saw a very familiar name from the old Dell forums ‘Firebird’ love the pedal steel, my favorite instrument! Isn’t your name Jack?
