Selling old win 7 PC with win 10 pro on it. Really need guidance.

/Export-Driver /Destination:<path_to_destination_folder>

  Export all third-party driver packages from a Windows image to a destination path.

    Examples:
      DISM.exe /online /Export-Driver /Destination:C:\destpath

The dism /export-driver command is really only needed if you have drivers from other sources than Microsoft. When you reinstall Winodws, if you have any devices in device manager that don't get drivers from Microsoft via Windows Update, then you can manually update the driver for the hardware by pointing the update driver dialog to the "C:\destpath" that you exported the drivers to.

You got the 1803 v. 1809 error message, probably, because you were running the dism contained in the sources folder of the Windows 10 USB flash drive instead of the dism command actually installed in C:\Windows\System32 of your computer.

Doesn’t c:\destpath have to be somewhere other than the 1803 computer i’m Exporting them from since it will be cleaned unallocated before installing 1809 on it?

C:\destpath is just an example. I like to save the drivers to a drivers folder on the Windows USB installation drive. It could be F:\Drivers for example.

After making several attempts to create a bootable install USB drive I chose to make an install DVD with it instead. Install went swimmingly after that and only needed export-driver folder for MMC/SD reader. After that no yellow flags in device manager. Thanks people.

Only remaining problem: the usb drive with export-driver folder say usb device not recognized. Last removed device malfunctioned. Happens on both USB 3.0 ports. Same drive reads ok on both usb 2.0 ports. It is usb 3.0 drive. Another usb 3.0 drive works fine for all ports. Problem drive works great on current PC usb 3.0 port. Any help with this will end my troubles completely.

A clarification. My usb drive is a flash drive not an external.

Going down NavyLCDR,s list doing all the windows 10 updates, uninstalled flash drive then rebooted. Plugged the drive back in and it now works.

It's just the old driver for it needed to be cleared out of the system.
