Can MDT/WDS deploy only recovery, efi & C Partition ?

    Hello,

Want to learn about MDT/WDS but have a very specific requirement. I've to deploy Windows 10 64 bit on 15 computers which already have lots of data in their D & E partitions. Taking their backup & restoring them after deployment is not practical. So I want to install the OS in such a way that only the Recovery partition(450 MB), EFI partition (100 MB) & C partition gets deployed without harming data in D & E partitions.

Can this be done using MDT/WDS ? I've already tried CloneZilla Server, CloneDeploy, FOG but they can't help in this scenario.

    Thanks

Hi exus69 and welcome to Tenforums!

not sure about MDT/WDS. Think it's more like the corporate solution. 16 PCs are not that much..

If you're not sure about it, think this could be done with Macrium reflect. Set an Image of boot partitions (EFI, recovery and C:) and deploy them on your PC's. Now, if you have had Macrium installed on all computers (or at least Macriumn recovery partition), you could do that by booting into recovery, and recover Image from network.

Simple, if you have similar machines and also possible with different hardware, but different Images would be recommended in this case..

Can also be done remotely via remote desktop or other remote software.

If MDT/WDS can do what I am looking for then I can convince my boss to purchase Windows Server OS considering future pc additions in this year itself. Macrium Reflect does not have a OS deployment over multicast product so it is out of the picture just like others I mentioned above.

Has anyone successfully restored only the Recovery Partition(450MB), EFI Partition (100 MB) & C drive (GPT Partition Table) using MDT/WDS keeping data in D & E partitions as it is ?
