    Lost EFI/ESP Partition | No Room Preceding OS Part | Options?

    • Lost EFI/ESP Partition.
    • After deleting MSR, on 17Mb is available (tutorial on woshub to re-add ESP + MSR, then copy *.efi files from %windir%)
    • Diskpart shrink QUERYMAX tells me that I have 4gb, but wont let me free up (tried 228 [100efi + 128msr as well trying 116 after finding out win10 msr only 16mb).

    1. Can I migrate / defreg files to back of disk, opening up more room b4 os part?
    2. what about single partition windows installs, where x looks in windir for boot information? where x is ? EFI? BCD? i'm not sure, i got the impression that if no ESP part, windows looks in the %windir%

    thanks =)

    You need to rewrite your post it is almost completely incomprehensible.

    If you want to recreate EFI partition you can copy the contents from any other PC or recreate them with bcdboot

    1. How did you lose the EFI System Partition (ESP) and where did the space go that it previously occupied?

    2. What method were you trying to use to shrink your C: drive partition?

    3. In most cases, booting from your C: drive will only work if the drive is MBR partitioned, the C: drive partition is marked as active, and the computer is booting with a legacy BIOS, or UEFI in CSM mode.

    4. The way you establish the boot files in a new ESP partition (or on C: drive in item 3 above) is with the BCDBOOT command.

    5. Do you have a second drive installed? You could establish a temporary ESP partition on the second drive to get you going.

    6. A bootable USB flash drive with a partitioning tool on it such as Kyhi's recovery tools would help immensely:
