@ mods please advise if i need to make a new thread

    Some update after feedbacks
    - placed old HDD
    - set boot to uefi first -> missing MBR
    - set boot back to legacy support
    - system boots OK
    - shut down system via start button -> start boots OK
    - restart system via start button -> system boots ok

    Solved

    Fixed the problem.

I wanted to let everyone know what I did to resolve it.
Turns out it was a hardware issue. I replaced the Gigabyte mobo(6 years old) with a new Asus board and a new AMD processor.
This solved ALL the above mentioned problems. What made it so confusing is that the problems started when I first installed the new SSD using the old board.
Anyway, thank you guys for chiming in and offering suggestions. Hope this helps somebody else.
