It also violates the EULA to install the OEM version and keep it and use it yourself. Notice the description says it is for "Pre-installation" on a new PC. That means to pre-install Windows before selling the computer.
This^^ Just because you can does not mean you should. Plus there is no guarantee that when you ever replace the board that you transfer the license even though MS has been soft on that from some reports.OEM is tied to the first board it is installed.

That is good to know. I was wondering about that too.
So for a new build it is better to go full retail license?
    Thanks
IMHO MS doesn't really care if you sell the computer with the OEM version or not. They just wont give you any support if needed. That is the responsibility of the seller. As the installer of the OEM version that would be you.

    I finally found it:
Communication page | Windows system builder licensing for personal use

    And

    https://devicepartner.microsoft.com/...ing_Guide-docx

The license for OEM System Builder's Edition (which comes on DVD, btw. Full retail Windows 10 comes on a USB flash drive) prohibits using it on a computer that you intend to keep for yourself.

As far as I know, the resale requirement of a system builder license is not enforced. I'd welcome any information to the contrary.

Thanks all. Great info. I think I understand the wacky pricing now.

What do you think of this?
On Amazon: this is the obvious legit license product:

Name:	W10 -A.JPG
Views:	12
Size:	137.0 KB
ID:	224175

But also they have this (notice it is through a re-seller):

Name:	W10 -R.JPG
Views:	6
Size:	128.7 KB
ID:	224177

My question is whether any deep discount product is not to be trusted or is it possible that it could be a legit license.
(I'm just curious, not trying to make everyone uncomfortable)

I looked on the Amazon site. 2 questions I would have, because their details are a bit sketchy.

    1) Are either or both Retail license, or OEM? Big difference in price Between the two.

    2) One of them said OEM Builder and was stating a July 2015 date. What version is it? 1508? 1809? 1803? 32/64?

They both are legit or Amazon would be in deep-deep. I would get some more exact details on those 2 you posted before making any assumptions they are the same.

I agree. It's always Buyer Beware on Amazon!
Maybe eBay has some great deals!

Sure they do, but are they legitimate? I'd be checking their credentials before I bought from anyone on Ebay.

That said, I know there are legitimate dealers on Ebay, but I'm not smart enough to figure out which are which, so I stay away.

I would not worry about which version you are getting. A person can always download the latest from Microsoft, the product keys don't change with the updates.
