    Hi All,
Again many thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have now successfully upgraded my HP desktop computer using the Windows Upgrade Assistant with no problems (nothing in the recycle bin this time). Frankly I rarely if ever have knowingly used the new features that Microsoft introduce with each upgrade and am quite happy with the basic Windows 10. I do like to keep things up to date however and assume that beneath the surface various improvements to safety and security have occurred.

You should always read up on what they`ve added, and what they`ve taken away.

Glad you finally got it done.

Do it manually. Download the iso. Log in, update or create your disk image (e.g. Macrium relflect (free) so if things go wrong you can revert without support, rt click the iso, Mount it, run setup.exe.

Go to this MS site and either use the Tool to create an ISO as Dalchina suggested, or use it to do the upgrade. Or, a simpler way is to use the Update Assistant on the same site. Either way.

    Download Windows 10

    Suggested that, too. No response.
