How to get W10 back after crash if I got it via the W7 online upgrade

My PC will no longer boot into windows. It is a Sager gaming laptop that has been my desktop for 2.5 years.

If this is fixable but W10 needs to be reinstalled, how do I do that? I have no disks as it came from the free upgrade online from W7.

Should I reinstall W7 and then apply for the online upgrade again? Or can I somehow just get W10 (without paying for it.)

I do have a little Yoga 900 that also got the free upgrade. Is there some sort of license number on that computer to get W10 reinstalled on the broken computer?

And I have same question about Office 2010. It too was an upgrade.

Skip entering the product key, it will activate automatically if you install the same version you had before (IE: Home or Pro).

Office 2010 is probably linked to your Microsoft account.

Simply goto the media creation tool online download free the latest win10 iso burn to dvd or usb boot from it and delete all partitions and do a clean install skip if it asks for key as it will activate via ms server

After backing up my files, I used an external drive to make the installation software and it installed Windows 10 and it actually worked

BUT it installed it on the WRONG drive.

It installed it on the 1 TB storage drive, which for some reason the makers of this laptop (Clevo/Sager) named C:

It did not install it on the 500GB SSD drive, where the previous Windows was installed. Which was called D:

Will this make my Windows run slower since it is not an SSD.

I confirmed that Windows and User directories are on both drives.

Can I leave Windows 10 on the storage drive but still install games, Photoshop, video editing software on the SSD?


Or should I reinstall?


As per instructions, from a YouTube video on how to do a custom install, I had chosen the only thing that said Primary when asking for where to install it, Drive 0 Partition 1.


Also, since the issue was Windows would not boot, maybe the SSD is in fact faulty. But I cannot know that unless I install Windows on IT and wipe it from the C.

Is there an issue with having Windows on both drives and using one of them as a boot drive?

I reinstalled Windows on the correct SSD drive and it solved my boot problem. But I now have Windows on my storage drive But I consider this specific issue solved. Thanks!
