1st time clean install Win 10 from DVD or USB?

I have my new build assembled and ready to install Windows 10 Pro.
I purchased The Windows 10 DVD from Amazon just last week so I believe it is relatively new.

While reading the clean install guidelines and step by step instructions, it mostly talks about installing from a USB drive. And reading another post, it said that using the USB installation was better than using an older DVD version.
The question is, how old is considered "old" when it comes to the DVD?
I did recently create the bootable USB from the Microsoft website, but I'm kind of old school ( or maybe just old ) and am more accustomed to the DVD installations.
And, if I do use the USB install, will the DVD activation key work, as long as they are both Windows 10 Pro 64 bit?

I should add, the DVD is an OEM version.

    Thanks in advance,
    cork

Hello Cork, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Using USB will be more reliable and faster than using a DVD.

If you're installing with UEFI, then a USB would be best to use.

Since your OEM license is for Windows 10 Pro, you can use any Windows 10 Pro installation media to install and activate it on the same PC.

Thank you for the information, and the welcome.
I know very little about UEFI, but it sounds like either way, the USB install would be preferred.

    Thanks again!

I used the USB for the install and all went extremely well.
Now I'm going to need to properly backup my system and make it safe and secure. Should I do that that with a continuation of this thread, or start a new thread(s) under the proper topics?
    Thanks again!

    That's great news.

It would be best to create a new thread in the forum area below to get the best help with backups.

We recommend using Macrium Reflect to make images.

Make one after W10 is all updated, then make another after you have all your software installed.

    It is amazing software
