Is WinRE.wim the same file as Install.wim

Tried to run DISM offline under Windows 10 Recovery Enviroment. X:\windows\system32\
My C drive change to D drive

    DISM /image:D:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

but received error 0x800f081f (sources files could not be found).

Is the WinRE.wim is the same file as Install.wim. Because I found the WinRe.wim file located in the hidden folder of c:\recovery\WindowsRE.

or I still need to to extract the Install.wim from the install.esd file.

    TQ.

    Welcome to TenForums safi

No, WinRE.wim is quite different. It is the Windows Recovery Environment.

However, you do not need to extract a .wim from the install.esd, you can use it directly. See Option one, Step 7 in this tutorial. This /source:esd option will work for both online and offline repairs.

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:Full Path to install.esd file:<Index Number>

    OK..After months trying I surrender

I have 2 units of same spec old HP PC. Want to update its Win 10 version 1703 (OS Build 15063.1206) to the latest.
Ran the windows update but 1 unit got stuck and roll back to its previous version of windows.
    This result to BSOD "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED"..

The PC Windows dead, goes OFFLINE boot to WINRE command prompt

    I had tried ;

    Code:
    Memtest
    chkdsk d: /f
    sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=D:\ /OFFWINDIR=D:\windows
    Dism /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Dism /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
    DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions
    DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:D:\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
    Dism /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:D:\mount\windows /limitaccess
All above 100% AOK executed but still cannot recover my the BSOD.
Maybe hardware problem so I exchanged the harddisk from good PC to bad and bad to good.
Result still the same, Good one working and Bad one still BSOD on the good PC.

Using the Vmware I had installed Win 10 version 1703 (OS Build 15063.0) and updated its to OS Build 15063.1206. Do comparison.. In my little little understanding there something missing in the WINSXS folder in regard to the ntoskrnl.exe and ntdll.dll files folders.. after the roll back process.

By using Dism++ program, I able to uninstall and reinstall the windows update and restore the missing files folders of ntoskrnl.exe and ntdll.dll files in the WINSXS but nothing change still same BSOD.

Any ideas please before I fresh install.

    Problem : ntoskrnl.exe (ntdll.dll+svchost.exe)

    Memory Dump file :

Please post in the BSOD forum, and follow the directions at the link in the Yellow attention box at the top of the forum about running the Beta log collector script. Need to see more data which the log collector script gathers.

Also update your system specs in the My Computer section at the bottom left under the message text area.
See here: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums

I looked at the dump and it appears like the system was doing some king of video operation that went bad and generated a BSOD.

I suggest you see if you can get a newer driver for your AMD Radeon card then use DDU to uninstall it and then install the new one.

Remove and install latest video drivers:

Get the latest driver for your video card here: AMD Drivers and support
Completely uninstall the current video display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from WagnardMobile here: Official Download Here. Do this in Safe Mode.

Then do a custom install of only the new video driver.

See if that gets rid of the problem.
