KB4471324 install fails. Would like to update to 1809 from full instal

I have seem many failed attempts to install KB4471324 so I would like to bypass this and update to 1809 from a 1809 full install dvd made from an ISO download (64bit).

Is this advisable and will my apps and activation still exist?

Hi, I assume you presently have build 1803 (you don't state this).

You can do an in-place upgrade with an 1809 iso - no need for a bootable disk. But either will do. Make sure you boot normally, then run setup.exe from the mounted iso or the bootable medium.

However, manually updating bypasses any protection MS has in place to limit distributing 1809 to PC configurations presently known to be problematic. To see more on that see the thread on the re-release of 1809 in the News section.

I have very recently manually updated from 1709 to 1809. I found I had to run the Windows Update troubleshooter and use the tutorial to reset Windows Update- otherwise quite ok.

As with any major change, first update your Windows disk image (you do use disk imaging as we constantly urge, I hope - e.g. Macrium reflect (free) ).

Then if things go badly wrong you can recover relatively painlessly.

Naturally your programs remain, unless any are found to be incompatible. Activation is not an issue.

    Disable any AV solution first.

    Tutorial for reference.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Please follow dalchina's recommendation to make an image.

You don't need the DVD or a flash drive. Just download the ISO, right click on it and select Mount, then open the drive it's mounted as and run Setup ... off you go.
