    Not getting latest Win10 version

I currently have Version 1709 and have been using that, and now have been reading that Version 1809 is working well and decided to upgrade. However, I'm doing Windows Update right now and it's showing that Version 1803 is downloading instead of 1809. Is there a way to just get 1809?

I understand that I skipped over 1803, but I assumed that I could do that. What if I skipped over several versions? What if I had to start over from the beginning? Would I have to work my way through each and every version of Win10 to get the latest one?

Thank you! I guess my computer didn't want to automatically download the latest one for some reason.
Is there any way of checking on the download progress? I can't find any sign of a download happening. I'll have to cancel it now because the place I'm in is closing.

You should have clicked on the Download tool now. That will download MediaCreationTool1809.exe. Run that and you will get a "Getting a few things ready" window then the Windows 10 Setup window opens.
    Click Accept.
    Select Create installation media
Select the Language, Edition and Architecture you want. Uncheck Use recommended if you need to change anything.Select ISO File on next window
Click Next and select where you want the ISO to be saved.
That's it, the ISO download will run and complete and the ISO will be created.

Unless you deliberately made steps to block Windows upgrades it is likely that there have been many spontaneous attempts by Windows to perform the upgrades.
What error messages or codes have you seen?

Failure to upgrade can be troubleshooted.

Run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread:
BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

    (extract all > open)

If a cause is found and fixed it may enable the upgrade.
If a cause cannot be found or if the cause cannot be fixed the next best option is a reset save files or reset save files equivalent.
If these methods do not work then a clean install is used.
After a clean install > create a backup image.
With a backup image if there is ransomware, malware, corruption of the operating system or registry, failure to boot, etc. you may be able to recover in less than one hour by restoring the image.

My computer not automatically upgrading to the newer versions in the past was intentional. I had my Wi-fi connection set to "Metered Connection" in order to block updates. I was happy with the version I had and was tired of updates coming and telling me I had to restart my computer at the worst times, and then making me wait while a new version installed, and then I'd have to go through the new version and get rid of junk I didn't want, and also restore settings that inevitably get changed back to what MS wants them to be. This time, I figured I'd skip a version (1803) and then come here and watch the update threads to make sure the next version wasn't giving people headaches when they upgraded to it. It looks like 1809 was causing problems for quite awhile, but now they are resolved. I thought I'd give it a chance. I'm just surprised to see that the update for me was going to be 1803 instead of the latest version.

I started the download for 1809 (thanks to Samuria ) but couldn't complete it because of time limitations. I start it again when I get the chance.

The rollout of 1809 is starting slowly and cautiously after the problems that caused it to be withdrawn shortly after itsfirst release at the beginning of October. Very few people on on 1803 are seeing it in windows update yet. For most it seems 1803 is still regarded by windows update as the most suitable version for their machines.

You would do well to look at the list of Known Blocking Issues for 1809. If your machine has any of them it may be best to upgrade to 1803 for now. See the list here...

Note on upgrade blocks: Blocking the availability of a Windows 10 feature update to devices we know will experience issues is a key aspect of our controlled rollout approach to provide users with a great update experience. We decide what to block based on user impact from closely monitoring feedback and device diagnostics. Blocking issues are a high priority for us to address as quickly as possible. If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we will not install the update until that issue is resolved, even if you “Check for updates”. We do this so that you avoid encountering any known problems.

If there are still blocking issues even at the end of December for 1809 even though it was released back in October, it might be best for me to just stick with 1709 and not upgrade at all. At least I already have something that's working.
