Do I need to initialize new Samsung SSD before cloning?

In the process of installing SSD for friend. After I connected the SSD via USB adapter, I started Macrium Reflect . Reflect shows the SSD as Disc 2 and it shows it to be empty. It did not ask me to initialize the SSD . Do I need to initialize it to MBR (which is what the original HDD is) before starting the cloning process ? If so how to do in Macrium ? TKs

No, you don't need to. Drag and drop the partitions. You can right click on the new partition location and select properties, I think it is, to resize the partition on the SSD.

Samsung also has free Data Migration software to convert HDD to SSD. I've used it successfully several times.

    On their web site.

OK. I will just drag and drop. Resize needed to fit into 500GB SSD disk . Hdd is 1 TB but lots of empty space in C drive. Wondering whether I should copy the hidden HDD recovery Drive which is 12GB . Afraid SSD wont boot if I leave that out.

I will leave out Recovery then. Since he does not intend to reuse the original HDD , he can keep that as a full backup .
