    win10 64..second drive

    I just got 2 HP590s with win10-1803.
They provide a second sata port and in previous PCs I installed 2 SSD-cloned to second drive-set up EasyBCD and could dual boot with no problem.
Now they have UEFI and I can only boot from the second drive if I disconnect the other.
I also see in BCD that entry #1 is listed as Windows Boot Manager. The other 2 drives are listed OK with drive letters.

If I switch both drives to legacy boot, will my dual boot begin to function as in the past.
I never had a virus problem with legacy before but the secure boot says only it is safe.

I spent a lot of time with HP support on this but received scripted answers that made no sense.

    Thanks for any help..

See here: Windows 10 Install UEFI and Windows 7 Dual boot Question

This should work with two Windows 10 installations just as well. What you are doing is adding the 2nd Windows 10 drive to the Windows 10 BCD store.

Enter bcdboot /? from a command prompt to see what the bcdboot command can do.

I have looked at this suggestion but I think it is beyond me at the moment.
I think it might be simpler for me to convert both my SSDs to mbr and have a solid dual boot where I can clone to drive two for a backup as I did for years with win7.
Of course I will lose all the support functions that both win10 and HP includes, but I have survived for 30 years without that.

    Your thoughts.

    thanks

From @NavyLCDR post I referred you to:

Right click on start icon, select Command Prompt (Admin). In the command prompt window run:

    BCDBOOT E:\Windows /d /addlast

The path in red is to the Windows folder of your Windows 7 installation. You'll have to do it for each Windows 7 partition you want to add. Then restart the computer.

You can press the Windows + R keys to open a run dialog. Enter: msconfig

Select the boot tab and you can adjust the timeout of the boot menu.
Where he talks about Windows 7, you would use your 2nd Windows 10 drive. It's not complicated, only takes a minute and will solve your dual boot problem.

    What is your concern?

I can't thank all of you enough.

You were right. It took a minute. All I need to do when I boot up is select the one I want to open.

After originally spending a huge amount of time with the HP support script readers and then going to tier 2, they all told me this was not possible. I think maybe they should hire this group to train their staff.

Well done. Some time you have to take a leap of faith or a jump off the cliff (you're choice). Really glad you got it working.

Sorry to bother you all again but I'm now ready to do the same 2 drive procedure on the other identical PC, but my memory has failed a bit.
How to hook up the second drive so I can set the bcd boot. Should I simply plug it in to the port and restart?
Do I use the same suffix addlast on both drives
Please be patient with the 87 year old memory.

    thanks

    Power off the computer.
Connect the 2nd drive to the 2nd SATA port.
    Power on the computer.
See what drive letter is assigned to the new drive. I suspect it will probably be E: like hte other computer.
Follow the same directions as before to use bcdboot.

I did that and each restart the F9 F10 boot switching options appear. I go through that to select the disk to boot.
But I noticed that I had previously installed easybcd program and this shows both drives along with choice of which disk to start.
Do you think if on the both drives If I uninstalled this program and only manually enteted the bcd command, it would work correctly? If so should I do the same on the other disk?

    thanks so much.
